RIKON Bench Top X – Y Mortiser - 34-260
Benchtop X-Y Mortising Machine #34-260 gives precision positioning of your work for boring mortises because of the sliding, X-Y axis table. Front controls move the table either forward-and-back, or side-to-side along the dual dovetail ways. The front clamp pushes work against the cast iron rear fence, as well as acting as a hold down.

What our Experts Think
-
Precision mortising in a compact package: The RIKON Bench Top X–Y Mortiser – 34‑260 delivers accurate, square mortises thanks to its X‑Y table feed system, making it easier to produce tight‑fitting joints than with hand tools or standard drill presses.
-
Smooth, controllable cuts: The X–Y sliding worktable allows fine adjustments for width and depth, helping ensure repeatable mortises without constant repositioning — a big workflow saver for repetitive joinery.
-
Heavy‑duty build where it counts: A cast‑iron base and table reduce vibration and improve stability during cuts, resulting in cleaner edges and less tear‑out.
-
Easy to set up and use: Clear markings, simple fence adjustments, and smooth feed handles make it easy to dial in layouts and maintain consistent results — even for beginners stepping up to machine joinery.
-
Space‑saving without sacrificing capability: The bench‑top footprint fits small shops or crowded workspaces while still handling typical mortising tasks for furniture, frames, and cabinetry.
-
Good bit and chisel support: Compatible with a range of mortise chisels and bits, giving flexibility for different joint sizes without complex setups.

Maintenance Tips
-
Disconnect Power Before Maintenance: Always unplug the mortiser before cleaning, adjusting, or changing bits.
-
Clean Work Area & Chip Ejection: Remove wood chips and dust from the table, bit, and chisel after each use to prevent buildup and maintain accuracy.
-
Inspect & Sharpen Chisels & Bits: Keep mortising bits and chisels sharp for clean cuts; replace or sharpen when worn.
-
Lubricate Moving Parts: Lightly oil the X‑Y slide mechanisms, quill, and pivot points to ensure smooth movement.
-
Check Table & Fence Alignment: Periodically verify that the table and fences are square for precise mortises.
-
Inspect Drive Belt & Hardware: Ensure the motor belt has proper tension and all fasteners are tight before operation.
-
Protect Metal Surfaces: Wipe exposed cast iron and steel parts with a clean cloth and apply a thin coat of rust-preventive oil.
