Maintenance Tips
-
Clean After Each Use: Remove wood chips and dust from the cutter head, infeed/outfeed tables, and housing to prevent buildup that affects performance.
-
Inspect Cutter Inserts: Check helical cutter head inserts for wear or damage and replace them promptly to maintain smooth, tear-free cuts.
-
Lubricate Moving Parts: Apply light machine oil to adjustment screws, depth controls, and bearings as needed to ensure smooth operation.
-
Check Drive Belts: Inspect belts for wear or slack and adjust or replace as necessary to maintain consistent cutter speed.
-
Protect Cast-Iron Surfaces: Apply a thin coat of paste wax to infeed/outfeed tables and fence to prevent rust and allow smooth stock movement.
-
Disconnect Power Before Maintenance: Always unplug the planer before cleaning, adjusting, or replacing inserts.
