Maintenance Tips
Rinse the entire BCD with fresh water after each use, focusing on the bladder, inflator and rip cord weight system to remove salt, sand and chlorine. Inflate and deflate during rinsing to flush the interior effectively.
Flush the Bladder
Fill the bladder with fresh water via the inflator, swish and drain completely, then repeat inflate/deflate cycles to ensure no residue remains.
Inspect Rip Cord System & Valves
Periodically check the rip cord weight release system for smooth operation, free of debris, and correct seating; test it so it deploys cleanly when needed.
Check dump valves, inflator, straps and seams for wear, damage or leaks before each dive.
Leak Check
Inflate the BCD fully and listen for air leaks. If any are detected, inspect the bladder, inflator valve and dump valves, and service or replace worn parts.
Lubricate & Care
Lightly apply silicone‑based lubricant to inflator and dump valve mechanisms for smooth operation; avoid petroleum‑based products that can damage rubber and seals.
Drying & Storage
Hang the BCD partially inflated in a shaded, ventilated area until completely dry to prevent mold and mildew.
Store partially inflated in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and excessive heat; avoid compressing or folding it tightly
